Camera-Tool Quick Start Guide

Precautions

Camera-Tool is compatible with TimerCAM and UnitCAM series products. Before using UnitCAM, connect the GROVE interface to the PC via a TTL-TO-USB adapter board.

Driver Installation

Connect the device to the PC and install the FTDI driver for the device in the device manager. For example, in a Windows 10 environment, download the driver file that matches your operating system and unzip it. Install the driver through the device manager. (Note: In some system environments, it may be necessary to install the driver twice for it to take effect. Unrecognized device names are usually M5Stack or USB Serial. It is recommended for Windows users to install the driver directly through the device manager (custom update). Installation via executable file may not work properly.) For MacOS users, please check System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General -> Allow apps downloaded from: -> App Store and identified developers before installing.

Software Introduction

Camera-Tool is used to control the Timer-CAM camera to take pictures. It currently supports two device connection modes: serial port and WiFi.

Click the icon below to download Camera-Tool (currently only Windows 10 version is available).

Firmware Flashing

Open the upper computer software --> Connect the device to the computer --> Select the corresponding port --> Click Burner to start flashing --> Wait for the popup successful to indicate that the flashing is complete.

Serial Port Mode

In serial port mode, the device is connected to the computer via USB, and Camera-Tool is used to access the device's serial port/get images.

Note: For the Unit-CAM series when using CameraTools, the image transmission interface is the Grove interface. Please connect the TX, RX of the Grove interface to the computer via a USB-TTL adapter board, then select the corresponding port for connection.

WIFI Mode

Switch to the HTTP tab and change the mode to Wi-Fi-HTTP. In the pop-up configuration box, fill in the WiFi information and click ok. After waiting for the configuration to complete, the IP address of the current camera will be displayed under the HTTP tab of the upper computer software, and it will be connected to the camera in WiFi mode.

In WiFi mode, devices on the same local network can access the camera by entering the device's IP address in the upper computer software to get images. Only one upper computer can connect at a time. The IP address will be displayed in the IP input box after connecting in serial port mode, and you can also view it through a serial port tool.

Taking Pictures

Clicking the fold switch will expand the shooting operation menu

. The operation bar provides functions for shooting, delayed shooting, and setting the image save path.

Parameter Adjustment

The configuration menu on the left provides a series of image parameter settings to adjust the imaging effect of the pictures.

Mobile App

In network mode, you can also use the mobile APP to take pictures and view surveillance.
